In related news, AmberPoint announced today that it has begun the NIAP certification of its software under the Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme. AmberPoint is the first software company to submit SOA management solutions for this certification process (see “AmberPoint Certifying SOA Management Solutions with the National Information Assurance Partnership”).
AmberPoint’s sales to the public sector include a recent enterprise licensing agreement with DISA for SOA management solutions within the Net-Centric Enterprise Services (NCES) Program. NCES is considered one of the major components of the Global Information Grid Enterprise Services, the U.S. Department of Defense’s global network for classified and non-classified data. This network will improve the decision-making ability of military services and business information owners by transforming the way they receive and access information.
In recent months, AmberPoint has grown its headcount with new sales and consulting staff dedicated to doing business with government agencies. AmberPoint’s Public Sector Sales team includes personnel with security clearances that enable direct involvement with several government entities presently working on SOA programs.
“Public sector agencies have a number of unique needs and challenges,” said John Emerson, AmberPoint’s vice president of Public Sector Sales. “AmberPoint is heavily focused on providing SOA-based solutions for our federal customers and partners, an investment that is now paying dividends. Our sales traction is due in large part to the inroads that we have made with key partners serving the public sector.”
Strategic Partnerships
AmberPoint has established alliances with the leading systems integrators serving government agencies. AmberPoint’s systems integrator partners include AT&T, BAE Systems, BearingPoint, Boeing, Booz Allen Hamilton, FGM, Gestalt, IBM Global Services, Lockheed Martin, Merlin Technical Solutions, NCI-SES, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, Titan and Wells Landers. Advanced Research partners include Mitre and Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).
“AmberPoint and Merlin are working closely together to serve the needs of government agencies implementing SOA,” said Dennis Nadler, Chief Technology Officer at Merlin. “Our recent success with the Department of Defense will serve as a framework for how other government agencies can implement production-ready, manageable SOA-based systems.”
AmberPoint provides the management layer that is critical for realizing the return on investment from distributed, heterogeneous service-oriented systems. AmberPoint’s solutions provide comprehensive management and security capabilities without requiring any changes to the services themselves. AmberPoint was the first Web services management vendor with solutions that run natively in both .NET and Java, enabling its software products to fully leverage the advantages of both prevailing Web services platforms.
