“We’re working very closely with numerous government agencies, which can benefit greatly from applying an SOA approach to their highly distributed, heterogeneous information systems,” said AmberPoint CEO John Hubinger. “The common criteria certification process is critical to ensuring the secure deployment of SOA by federal agencies, and we are investing the resources necessary for quick completion of this process.”
The National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) Common Criteria testing is a result of the partnership between the National Security Agency and the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The NIAP initiative is designed to meet the security, testing, evaluation and assessment needs of IT producers and consumers. Federal policy specifies that any new purchases of IT products by government agencies be limited to those that have met or are in the process of meeting the internationally accepted, standards-based security criteria for IT products critical to the overall economic and national security interests of the United States.
In related news, AmberPoint also announced that it has achieved significant growth in the government sector, with customers such as the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), the United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), agencies within the U.S. Intelligence Community, and partnerships with leading systems integrators serving the public sector (see “AmberPoint Announces Growing Momentum in the Public Sector”).
AmberPoint provides the management layer that is critical for realizing the return on investment from distributed, heterogeneous service-oriented systems. AmberPoint’s solutions provide comprehensive management and security capabilities without requiring any changes to the services themselves. AmberPoint was the first Web services management vendor with solutions that run natively in both .NET and Java, enabling its software products to fully leverage the advantages of both prevailing Web services platforms.
