AmberPoint Continues to Build Market Leadership with the Signing of Additional, Prominent New Customers

Web Services Management Leader Adds New Customers Including Best Buy, Aimbridge, DISA, France Telecom and Transaction Printer Group

Oakland, California, April 20, 2004 -- AmberPoint today announced that it has extended its market leadership with the addition of several marquee customers signed during the first quarter of 2004. Some of the organizations that licensed AmberPoint Web services management software in recent months include Best Buy, Aimbridge, the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), France Telecom and Transaction Printer Group. In addition to these named customers, AmberPoint signed other prominent companies in the financial services, telecommunications and travel industries, and completed significant follow-on business with existing customers. With its new customers, AmberPoint has extended its lead in the market with the highest number of software licenses, paid customers, customers in production and referenceable customers. AmberPoint has consistently announced multiple, notable customers over the last year.

“AmberPoint gives us the visibility and control we need to make the most of Web services,” said David Lindsey, VP of Technology at Aimbridge. “We saw from our first pilots that management would be a crucial aspect of our new loosely coupled architecture. With its agent-based approach, AmberPoint meets our requirements without the need to modify our applications.”

“We evaluated a number of Web services management solutions, and it’s clear that AmberPoint provides the most comprehensive capabilities,” said Mark Unak, VP of Software Solutions, Transaction Printer Group. “For example, AmberPoint's new graphical policy editor is the fastest and easiest tool we've seen for creating sophisticated management policies across distributed Web services systems.”

In addition to its enterprise customers, AmberPoint continued to significantly expand its community of users through the broad adoption of AmberPoint Express, the company’s complimentary developer’s edition software. Hundreds of Web services developers have installed AmberPoint Express each month since its release in December 2003, extending the company’s reach to a vast range of industries and geographies worldwide.

“As the Web services market matures, it becomes increasingly clear that only a small number of Web services management start-ups will have sufficient traction to thrive,” said Jason Bloomberg, senior analyst at ZapThink. “With its many new and prominent customers and the depth of its industry alliances, AmberPoint is well-positioned to be one of the few solid successes in the increasingly dynamic Web services management marketplace.”

“Our sales momentum, repeat business with marquee customers and our rapidly growing list of production implementations are strong validation to our success in this market,” said John Hubinger, president and CEO of AmberPoint. “This ongoing growth underscores the accuracy of our vision for market requirements and the architectural advantages of our software solutions. Additionally, we are very pleased to see that our seeding strategy for AmberPoint Express is beginning to pay dividends.”

AmberPoint makes Web services production-ready. With its uniquely non-invasive approach for managing distributed, heterogeneous service-oriented systems, AmberPoint integrates into any Web services environment to quickly deliver comprehensive management, monitoring and security capabilities without requiring additional coding to the Web services themselves. AmberPoint is the first Web services management vendor with solutions that run natively in both .NET and Java, enabling its software products to fully leverage the advantages of both prevailing Web services platforms.
