AmberPoint Expands Global Presence with Operations in Europe

Leading Web Services Management Provider to Expand Sales, Business Development and Support Throughout Europe

Oakland, California, March 16, 2004 -- AmberPoint, Inc., announced today that the company is expanding its operations in Europe in response to growing demand and rapid market maturation, with offices in London, Paris and Lisbon. AmberPoint has established sales and business development in those regions, as well as providing local support for European customers and partners. AmberPoint provides Web services management software that radically simplifies the management and evolution of business solutions built on Web services.

AmberPoint has already established a strong base in Europe, through partnerships and sales to marquee customers including such names as British Telecommunications Plc (BT), British American Tobacco, Orange, Bouygues Telecom, and Reuters, among others. In addition, hundreds of European companies are now using AmberPoint Express, AmberPoint's complimentary Web services management software.

“We believe 2004 will see a real acceleration in the widespread adoption of Web services by enterprises,” said Peter Gandy, head of Web Services, BT Global Services. “As their use increases, companies will need to have effective tools to ensure that the power of Web services is managed to derive maximum benefit. Enhanced local support from AmberPoint will help both of our companies to better meet the needs of European business.”

AmberPoint solutions offer a uniquely non-invasive approach for managing distributed, heterogeneous Web services systems. AmberPoint integrates into any Web services environment, quickly delivering comprehensive management, monitoring and security capabilities without requiring additional coding to the Web services themselves. AmberPoint is the only software vendor with management solutions that run natively in both .NET and Java, enabling its software products to fully leverage the advantages of both prevailing Web services platforms.

"By adding local support, AmberPoint is strengthening its commitment to its customers and partners in Europe," said Kevin Poulter, chief architect at British American Tobacco. "AmberPoint's presence in Europe will give us with the ability to more easily adopt their leading management software, and enables us to extend our use of their solutions to new Web services projects."

Responding to the increasingly business-critical use of Web services, AmberPoint is the first of the independent Web services management companies to establish local support for European time zones and languages.

AmberPoint provides a comprehensive suite of Web services management products including:

  • AmberPoint Management Foundation: Brings management, monitoring and security capabilities to Web services systems, transforming them into trustworthy, enterprise-class business assets.

  • Service Level Manager: Provides predictability, visibility and control for Web services in production environments.

  • Exception Manager: Monitors business activity to detect, diagnose and resolve operational errors and unplanned business events.

  • AmberPoint Express: A no-cost, developer's edition of AmberPoint. It enables Web service developers to incrementally measure, debug and fine-tune the performance and functionality of their Web services.

“AmberPoint solutions have been proven in many Fortune 500 companies in Europe and the U.S.,” said John Hubinger, AmberPoint CEO. “Our presence in Europe will enable us to cater to the specific needs of business operations in those areas. We believe this expansion will significantly enhance our global market opportunity.”

In related news today, AmberPoint Express, AmberPoint's no-cost developer’s tool, has been awarded the "World Class Product Award” from Web Services Journal.
