AmberPoint Strengthens Relationship with IBM

Web Services Management Capabilities Fine-tuned for Deployment on IBM WebSphere

Oakland, California, July 1, 2002 -- AmberPointTM, Inc. today announced that it has strengthened its relationship with IBM by engineering a version of the company’s first product offering, AmberPoint Management Foundation, for integration with IBM WebSphere*. AmberPoint brings management, tracking and security capabilities to Web services deployed on IBM’s premier e-business software platform. The fine-tuning of the product for WebSphere integration is an important outgrowth of the relationship between the two companies, first announced when AmberPoint was selected as one of the few certified vendors in IBM’s Web services on WebSphere (WoW) initiative.

AmberPoint delivers comprehensive Web services management software, enabling enterprises to deploy and manage production-level Web services. AmberPoint Management Foundation, which became generally available last week, provides key features such as monitoring and management across multiple machines, access control, handling of upgrades and tracking of business use.

“IBM is pleased to work with companies like AmberPoint to provide complementary solutions for our WebSphere Software,” said Scott Hebner, director of marketing for IBM WebSphere. “The extension of AmberPoint Management Foundation for WebSphere will further enable companies to manage Web services.”

AmberPoint is part of IBM’s Web services initiative called Web services on WebSphere, or WoW. WoW is a community for sharing technology and business strategies for deploying Web services solutions built on WebSphere. Through the WoW initiative, IBM and companies like AmberPoint will help e-businesses assess their readiness for Web services and improve integration of e-commerce, business processes, supply chain management and customer relationship management to reduce development costs and increase business efficiencies.

"IBM’s decision to team with AmberPoint is a strong validation of the need for Web services management solutions,” said John Hubinger, founder and CEO of AmberPoint. “We are committed to helping customers realize the full benefits of Web services, and will work with IBM to enable the effective deployment and management of Web services.”
