AmberPoint Extends Market Leadership with Marquee New Customers and Strategic Relationships

AmberPoint Announces Six New Customers; Completes Reseller Agreement with IBM Global Services

Oakland, California, January 14, 2004 -- AmberPoint, Inc. today announced that it has furthered its market leadership with the addition of many new marquee customers. A partial list of the companies that have recently purchased AmberPoint’s Web services management solutions includes Cole National, Global eXchange Services (GXS), Orange, Rogue Wave Software, Samsung, and a large government agency in the United Kingdom. AmberPoint also completed a reseller agreement with IBM Global Services during the last quarter. Additionally, AmberPoint’s new, complimentary product offering, AmberPoint Express, has been installed and used by hundreds of companies since its release in December 2003.

“The addition of these significant names to AmberPoint’s customer roster speaks to the strength of their solutions,” said Jason Bloomberg, senior analyst at ZapThink. “This indicates that the Web services management market is continuing the growth we've predicted.”

Rogue Wave Software, a QUOVADXTM company, is a leading provider of tools that facilitate the development of service-based applications.

“We conducted a comprehensive analysis to identify the Web services management solutions that are best suited to the diverse needs of our customers and partners,” said Tom Gaunt, vice president of sales at Rogue Wave Software. “The jury is in. We found that AmberPoint's capabilities were superior. AmberPoint's non-invasive approach is ideal for our customers, who want to avoid additional coding and cumbersome implementations. And because most of our customers run their information systems on a variety of platforms, AmberPoint's ability to run natively on both Java and .NET weighed heavily in our decision.”

In addition to adding new customers to its industry-leading customer portfolio, AmberPoint also completed significant follow-on sales to existing customers, including a large insurance and financial services company, a leading utility company and a Global 100 manufacturing company.

AmberPoint also deepened its relationship with IBM Global Services with a reseller agreement that has already resulted in the first joint customer win for the two companies.

“Our relationship with AmberPoint is a valuable addition to our Web services business,” said Michael Liebow, vice president of Web services, IBM Global Services. “AmberPoint’s comprehensive management solutions extend the industry-leading capabilities of WebSphere, forming a highly complementary solutions offering that is resulting in new business opportunities.”

“We're continuing to see the growth and evolution of service-oriented systems across a range of enterprises and markets,” said John Hubinger, president and CEO of AmberPoint. “We now have customers in most major industries—financial services, government, manufacturing, telecommunications, energy, travel and entertainment, and retail—and in six countries. This is a strong indication of the broad acceptance of our technology and the applicability of our solutions. We’re pleased to have ended 2003 with such strong momentum.”

AmberPoint solutions offer a uniquely non-invasive approach for managing distributed, heterogeneous service-oriented systems. AmberPoint integrates into any Web services environment, quickly delivering comprehensive management, monitoring and security capabilities without requiring additional coding to the Web services themselves. AmberPoint is the first Web services management vendor with solutions that run natively in both .NET and Java, enabling its software products to fully leverage the advantages of both prevailing Web services platforms.
