AmberPoint Integrates with Netegrity TransactionMinder 5.6 to Deliver Greater Management and Security for Web Services

Integrated Security and Management Capabilities Bring Significant Benefits to Organizations Implementing Web Services-Based Systems

Oakland, California, September 22, 2003 -- AmberPoint, Inc., the leading provider of Web services management solutions, today announced that it is integrating its industry-leading Web services management solutions with Netegrity's (Nasdaq: NETE) new release of its Web services security product, Netegrity TransactionMinder® 5.6. The combination of AmberPoint and Netegrity enables enterprises to secure XML-based Web service interactions using Netegrity TransactionMinder prior to enforcing management policies using AmberPoint’s solutions. Enterprises can seamlessly implement business-level management security policies by using Netegrity to authenticate the identity, and using AmberPoint for its rich content analysis, instrumentation and management actions. AmberPoint also announced today its support for the Netegrity Web Services Reference Architecture, a logical framework describing the concepts and products for a complete Web services solution.

“Web services systems continually evolve, creating both security and management complexities,” said Deepak Taneja, chief technology officer at Netegrity. “The combination of AmberPoint and Netegrity helps to address this by providing joint customers with a solution that leverages centralized security services to provide a strong Web services management platform. AmberPoint was the first dedicated Web services management company to integrate with Netegrity, so we’re thrilled that we are expanding on that long-standing relationship.”

The integration of Netegrity TransactionMinder 5.6 and AmberPoint provides an identity-based Web services management solution with centralized control over a distributed environment. Organizations implementing both solutions will be able to apply management policies that take into consideration the user’s identity and permissions, while also simplifying security administration. Leveraging a core set of Web services standards, Netegrity TransactionMinder utilizes centralized security policies bound to user identities for authentication, authorization, federation, session management and auditing.

AmberPoint will utilize Netegrity’s support for WS-Security specification in the upcoming TransactionMinder 5.6 release to consume and generate SOAP messages using three different security tokens: username & password digest; X.509 certificates; and SAML assertions. AmberPoint management agents can be configured to talk directly to Netegrity TransactionMinder, which authenticates the user credentials from a message request.

“Security is the number one concern of organizations looking to deploy enterprise-class Web services,” said John Hubinger, president and CEO of AmberPoint. “Netegrity is addressing these concerns with its release of TransactionMinder 5.6, making it easier for businesses to take trustworthy Web services into production. Thanks to our open architecture, we’re able to easily integrate with TransactionMinder to create a combined solution that enables organizations to implement heightened security measures and richer management capabilities, while also easing the burden of maintaining evolving Web services systems.”
