AmberPoint Extends Its Market Leadership with the Signing of Prominent New Customers

British Telecommunications Plc, Microsoft, Bouygues Telecom, AgentWare and Reuters among Recent Customers of Industry-Leading Web Services Management Vendor

Oakland, California, July 9, 2003 -- AmberPoint, Inc., announced today the addition of new customers for its pioneering management solutions. Recently signed marquee customers that have turned to AmberPoint for comprehensive Web services management include British Telecommunications Plc (BT), Microsoft, Bouygues Telecom, AgentWare and Reuters. AmberPoint continues to add large organizations to its growing customer base, extending the company’s position as the dominant vendor in the Web services management market.

In related news, the company also announced today that BT has selected AmberPoint to bring enterprise-grade management capabilities to the services it offers customers (see related release, “British Telecommunications Plc Calls on AmberPoint for Web Services Management”).

The addition of these new customers furthers AmberPoint’s Web services management market-share leadership. Focusing its development, support and sales efforts exclusively on Web services management software products, AmberPoint has increased its already significant industry lead in the number of software licenses, paid customers, customers in production and referenceable customers.

"Having had Web services in production for quite some time, we've got a good understanding of the management requirements that come with Web services systems," said Peter Gandy, head of Web services for BT Global Services, BT's business services and solutions division. "We evaluated various approaches to managing Web services and selected AmberPoint as an integral part of our Web services offering. AmberPoint provides comprehensive management capabilities that help organizations to make the most of distributed, heterogeneous Web services systems."

An emerging leader in the travel business, AgentWare is using AmberPoint’s recently released Service Level Manager to manage and monitor the host of new Web services-based applications that it is rolling out to its customer base of travel agents and travel technology companies.

“AmberPoint Service Level Manager enables us to set and manage appropriate service levels across our entire Web services system,” said Ivan Bekkers, president and COO of AgentWare. “With the capabilities provided by AmberPoint, we are able to map IT resources to the business value they provide, anticipate service problems early and mitigate issues immediately. It gives us visibility into how we publish and consume Web services and tunes our systems for maximum business benefit.”

In addition to adding new customers to its industry-leading customer portfolio, AmberPoint also completed follow-on sales to existing customers, including a large agency of the U.S. government, a leading telecommunications corporation and an international consumer products company.

“Organizations that are serious about Web services are uncovering a number of management challenges that they must overcome before taking those new systems into production,” said John Hubinger, president and CEO of AmberPoint. “Our momentum in the industry grows steadily as we continue to release products that meet the rising demand for Web services management. This latest round of customer wins further validates the market need for Web services management and our ability to meet those requirements.”

AmberPoint solutions offer a uniquely non-invasive approach for managing distributed, heterogeneous Web services systems. AmberPoint integrates into any Web services environment, quickly delivering comprehensive management, monitoring and security capabilities without requiring additional coding to the Web services themselves. AmberPoint is the only software vendor with management solutions that run natively in both .NET and Java, enabling its software products to fully leverage the advantages of both prevailing Web services platforms.
