AmberPoint Releases New Versions of Management Solutions with Support for JMS and Performance Enhancements

Web Services Management Pioneer Extends Capabilities and Optimizes Product Performance

Oakland, California, June 3, 2003 -- AmberPoint, Inc., today announced versions of its Web services management solutions with enhanced performance capabilities and new support for JavaTM Message Service (JMS). The new releases from AmberPoint address customer requirements for reliable, asynchronous transport characteristics for SOAP processors and greater system-wide performance for Web services environments. These improvements apply across all AmberPoint product families.

AmberPoint’s addition of JMS support increases the reach of its products in multi-protocol environments. AmberPoint is providing support for widely deployed JMS-based XML messaging platforms, such as IBM WebSphere MQ and BEA WebLogic Workshop, and is enabling corporations to easily add support for customized JMS environments. AmberPoint will continue to extend support for multiple content, transport and packaging protocols to meet evolving market requirements.

“We deliver Web services across a variety of protocols, including new JMS-based applications," said Ivan Bekkers, president of software pioneer AgentWare. “AmberPoint's support of JMS is significant in that it will extend the reach of the company's leading management solutions to an even broader class of applications.”

As part of a program of regular product improvements, AmberPoint has also added a number of performance-related enhancements to the handling of XML. The system intelligently optimizes the handling of XML messages through a variety of techniques that include:

  • Operations-based branching to skip processing entirely for irrelevant messages

  • Partial parsing optimizations to reduce the amount of the message that is parsed

  • Out-of-band processing of data consolidation, historical trends and reporting

  • Native implementations for both .NET and various J2EE-based systems in order to leverage all vendor-specific improvements to their Web service platforms

  • Plug-in agents, where appropriate, in order to eliminate extra networking hops

  • Distributed workload optimizations so that systems can make maximum use of the distributed environment rather than performing all processing in one, centralized location

The AmberPoint architecture is designed to give its customers these improvements without any recoding. By simply installing the latest release, AmberPoint customers benefit from improved performance for both XML and SOAP-based Web services.

“At this point, the industry needs a continuous stream of enhancements in processing XML,” said Mark Unak, chief architect at Fujitsu. “We’re excited to see AmberPoint aggressively reducing the overhead in managing Web services.”

“As Web services take root in enterprise information systems, organizations are uncovering new requirements for performance and reliability,” said Paul Butterworth, AmberPoint’s chief technology officer. “By extending the scope of our products to include JMS support and enhancing performance capabilities, we are addressing the needs these organizations face as they expand their use of Web services.”
