Both a development platform and a runtime environment for legacy integration, ClientSoft ServiceBuilder enables a true service-oriented architecture by allowing enterprise developers to wrap existing legacy programs and transactions into ready-to-deploy Web services. Additionally, ServiceBuilder is the only solution on the market that possesses bi-directional Web services support, not only publishing legacy transactions as Web services, but also allowing legacy programs to consume Web services.
Complementing ClientSoft’s generation capabilities, AmberPoint management solutions enable companies to transform their Web service initiatives into enterprise-class business assets. AmberPoint Management Foundation and AmberPoint Service Level Manager, a new AmberPoint solution announced today, enable organizations to mitigate the risk of deploying Web services-based systems by providing the management, monitoring and security capabilities required to take those systems into production.
“Today, Fortune 2000 organizations are struggling to effectively migrate enterprise applications to distributed platforms,” states Rob Morris, ClientSoft’s vice president of Sales and Marketing. “By combining the proven capabilities of ClientSoft ServiceBuilder with AmberPoint's Management Foundation and Service Level Manager, these organizations can easily build and manage reusable Web services. As a result, they are quickly realizing the benefits of a true service-oriented architecture that includes the mainframe as a primary participant.”
In a live demonstration of product interoperability, ClientSoft and AmberPoint integrated their solutions for exhibit at this week’s Gartner conference. In the demo, ClientSoft takes a mainframe-based airline flight information system and transforms it into a Web service with just a few mouse clicks. AmberPoint Service Level Manager then manages the response time and availability of the newly created Web service, actively prioritizing requests sent to the mainframe and providing business insight into operational data. Like ClientSoft, AmberPoint actively manages XML messages bi-directionally, enabling organizations to manage and secure mainframes that were not originally intended to be used as Web services.
“For the Fortune 2000, the service-oriented architecture is quickly moving from the white board to the development cycle,” adds Ed Horst, AmberPoint vice president of Marketing. “Reliable legacy integration is an imperative, as are robust Web services management capabilities. By working together as partners to answer these critical requirements, as well as helping organizations to bridge the gap between legacy platforms and more modern application development, ClientSoft and AmberPoint offer the enterprise an intriguing value proposition.”
