"It is great to partner with AmberPoint to deliver significant benefits to customers deploying Web services-based solutions," said Dan’l Lewin, Microsoft’s corporate vice president of the Platform Strategy & Partner Group. "Certified by the .NET Connected Logo Program, AmberPoint’s products are identified by customers as solutions that easily and consistently manage disparate systems, delivering rich capabilities to meet enterprise requirements for operational health, security and business value."
The .NET-connected version of AmberPoint executes in native Microsoft Visual C# and offers enhancements made possible by fully utilizing the Web services system libraries of the Microsoft common language runtime (CLR). The benefits of this newly available product include performance optimization for environments built on the Microsoft .NET Framework, greater security facilities, tight integration across all .NET Framework system components and smooth upgrades as new .NET-connected technologies become available. The .NET Framework is an integral Windows component that enables building and running the next generation of software applications and Web services.
“Web services management is a key enabler of enterprise-class Web services deployments," said Jason Bloomberg, Senior Analyst at ZapThink LLC. "Because Web services enable interoperability among heterogeneous environments, it is essential for any Web services management solution to be optimized for both the Microsoft and J2EE platforms. AmberPoint's work with Microsoft is a big step forward for enterprise deployments of Web services, because operating natively on the .NET Framework brings performance advantages, new capabilities and tighter integration."
Evolving Relationship
At last month’s Microsoft Management Summit, AmberPoint, Inc., announced it is integrating its industry-leading Web services management solutions with Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM), Microsoft’s enterprise monitoring, management and security solution. The combination of AmberPoint and MOM provides comprehensive management capabilities across the extended enterprise, including Web services built on any platform and running on either side of corporate firewalls. In February of this year, AmberPoint and Microsoft jointly announced an agreement to build and deliver a combination of tools and management technology intended to help customers manage distributed applications based on the Microsoft .NET Framework.
“As we looked at market requirements and the inherently heterogeneous nature of Web services, we saw that running natively in both Java and on the .NET Framework was an absolute necessity,” said Paul Butterworth, AmberPoint’s chief technology officer. “Microsoft has been a great partner in helping us get the most out of the performance advantages of .NET and bringing this solution to market.”
