AmberPoint Certifies Closed-loop Governance with Oracle Service Registry and Oracle Enterprise Repository

Bi-Directional Integration with Oracle Design-time Solutions Improves Reliability and Reduces Complexity of Composite Applications

Oakland, CA, July 21, 2009 -- AmberPoint today announced that it has completed its work with Oracle to certify Oracle Enterprise Repository and Oracle Service Registry as AmberPoint-supported platforms. The certified integrations of these management and governance solutions enable organizations to achieve more reliable and effective closed-loop governance across the complete lifecycle of their distributed, composite applications.

"Because distributed applications evolve and change quickly, it’s critical to continually keep design-oriented activities inline with the deployed realities of composite applications," said Gary Rinedollar, vice president of Alliances, AmberPoint. "We’ve worked closely with Oracle to validate the bidirectional communication between our respective solutions. This ensures our shared customers that their Oracle repositories and registries will accurately reflect their deployed applications, and that management policies will be executed as intended end-to-end across their distributed systems."

AmberPoint utilizes a policy-based approach to manage the health and well-being of distributed systems. Its industry-leading software solutions enable enterprises to better understand system behavior, manage each transaction flowing across their environments and implement policies that automate performance, remedy exceptional conditions and uphold security.

Closed-Loop Governance with Oracle
AmberPoint automatically synchronizes operational metrics and runtime policies for composite applications with the services metadata recorded in Oracle Enterprise Repository and Oracle Service Registry. This exchange of information helps to resolve discrepancies between design intentions and runtime realities. For instance, it helps organizations identify rogue services and submits these unlisted application components for approval. Additionally, ad hoc management policies are brought to the notice of system owners. Administrators can also ensure that consumers access only managed service endpoints—endpoints that have been authorized for use.

  • Service Metadata: AmberPoint automatically discovers services recorded in Oracle Enterprise Repository and Oracle Service Registry, as well as adding any previously unlisted (or "rogue") services discovered in the running environment.

  • Policy Exchange: AmberPoint synchronizes runtime policies with Oracle Enterprise Repository and Service Registry. It ensures that policies are enforced according to assignment rules described in the design-time environment.

  • Service Scorecards: AmberPoint provides design-time stakeholders comprehensive visibility into the operational environment by publishing runtime metrics to Oracle Enterprise Repository and Oracle Service Registry. It furnishes up-to-date Service Scorecards containing evaluative information on throughput, availability, response times, faults, service level agreement violations and exceptions.

Benefits

  • Reduces Time-to-ROI of Composite Applications: Ensures that services operate as expected in order to meet business goals.

  • Improves Cross-Lifecycle Governance: Ensures that only approved services are running in the network. Brings unapproved services under management.

  • Better Teamwork: Improves inter-team communication and collaboration across every phase of the application lifecycle

  • Greater Efficiencies: Facilitates transparency, while providing information and metrics that aid decision-making about the management system as a whole.

Broad Support for Oracle
AmberPoint provides comprehensive support for applications built using Oracle infrastructure, including:

  • Oracle WebLogic Server

  • Oracle Service Bus

  • Oracle Fusion

  • Oracle Enterprise Repository

  • Oracle Service Registry
