Two AmberPoint Customers Honored with InfoWorld 100 Awards

Leading Technology Magazine Selects MedicAlert and Univé Verzekeringen as Innovators for Use of AmberPoint's SOA Management System

Oakland, CA, November 13, 2007 -- AmberPoint announced today that two of its customers, MedicAlert and Univé Verzekeringen, have been awarded the prestigious InfoWorld 100 Award for their AmberPoint-managed service oriented architecture (SOA) systems. The migration to SOA-based applications has allowed both companies to better serve their customers with increased flexibility and the ability to efficiently introduce new applications. AmberPoint provided the comprehensive SOA runtime governance capabilities MedicAlert and Univé needed to gain reliable business use from their loosely coupled SOA applications.

This is the third-year in a row that AmberPoint customers have been honored with InfoWorld 100 awards for their use of AmberPoint-managed SOA systems. H&R Block Financial Advisors was selected in 2005 and Motorola was selected in 2006.

InfoWorld's annual InfoWorld 100 Awards honors IT projects that demonstrate the most creative use of cutting-edge technologies to enhance business goals. To win, projects must demonstrate that they stretch beyond typical, off-the-shelf solutions and use multiple technologies in innovative ways. Winners are featured in InfoWorld magazine online at: www.infoworld.com/archives/t.jsp?N=s&V=93246.

MedicAlert Foundation
InfoWorld honored MedicAlert, a non-profit heathcare informatics company, as a top-ten finalist for its AmberPoint-managed SOA-based E-HealthKEY service. In place of the traditional MedicAlert bracelet, this service enables members to store comprehensive, personal medical information to a USB memory stick, which they then can attach to a keychain and carry with them at all times. AmberPoint enabled the company to take the system into production 75% faster, while ensuring the highest levels of manageability and security.

"Our move to SOA has helped our business tremendously," said Jorge Mercado, Principal Architect of MedicAlert's SOA and Software Architecture Group. "It brought us the flexibility we needed to easily add new partners and quickly capitalize on new business opportunities. We could not have achieved these results without AmberPoint's comprehensive management capabilities. We're glad to share the recognition of this InfoWorld 100 award with our strategic partner, AmberPoint."

Univé Verzekeringen
Also recognized for its SOA implementation was Univé Verzekeringen, a not-for-profit insurance company based in the Netherlands. With its AmberPoint-based system, the company was able to gain control of its complex infrastructure of business-critical applications that deliver quotations, registrations, mutations and connect with its mainframe as well as external services to cross check against fraud. This new level of SOA monitoring and visibility has allowed Univé Verzekeringen to considerably streamline its processes and lower costs by allowing the company to complete more business from its website, minimizing the need for human interaction.

"We're very pleased to have won this award for our AmberPoint-managed SOA systems," said Bob Alberts, Project Manager at Univé Verzekeringen. "This industry recognition underscores the benefits we've achieved from SOA. By automating a great deal of our systems, we've improved customer service and lowered costs. AmberPoint played a significant role in this success, giving us the visibility and control we need to gain business value from our complex services network."
