AmberPoint Customer Motorola Wins InfoWorld 100 Award

InfoWorld Magazine Honors Motorola’s Use of AmberPoint’s SOA Management System

Oakland, CA, November 14, 2006 -- AmberPoint and Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) this week announced a second consecutive industry award for Motorola's ongoing use of AmberPoint's service oriented architecture (SOA) runtime governance software, the AmberPoint SOA Management System. SOA allows Motorola to introduce new applications faster and to integrate its Information Technology systems more flexibly in an industry where speed to market is imperative. As a result, Motorola's IT infrastructure is more agile and efficient.

This most recent honor is the prestigious InfoWorld 100, which annually recognizes IT projects that demonstrate the most creative use of cutting-edge technologies to enhance business goals. To win, projects must demonstrate that they stretch beyond typical, off-the-shelf solutions and use multiple technologies in innovative ways. Winners are featured in InfoWorld magazine online at: www.infoworld.com/reports/46SR06iw100.html.

In October, both companies were awarded the Technology Managers Forum's 2006 Best Practice Award, which highlighted Motorola's AmberPoint-managed SOA environment as a model for service-oriented computing.

"AmberPoint has been and will continue to be a key part of Motorola's SOA solutions," explained Toby Redshaw, corporate vice president of Information Technology at Motorola. "With its policy-based approach to SOA runtime governance, we are able to reliably reuse functionality from aging legacy systems, cutting costs and increasing efficiency."

Motorola is a Fortune 100 global communications leader providing seamless mobility products and solutions across broadband, embedded systems and wireless networks. Motorola was early to recognize the advantages of SOA and saw management requirements as the most pressing need for building viable, business-driving services networks. With the implementation of AmberPoint's policy-based approach to SOA management, Motorola's IT teams can deliver projects more quickly by using composite application tools. AmberPoint monitors the systems, manages performance and availability, detects and resolves faults and provides access control to the hundreds of Web services Motorola has implemented for business-to-business, business-to-consumer and business-to-government initiatives.

"It's a true honor to have an AmberPoint customer chosen for the InfoWorld 100 Award for the second year in a row, and to have our work with Motorola honored twice in just two months," said John Hubinger, AmberPoint's CEO. "Motorola is an exceptional customer. Our work with them has helped us create a model for success with many other customers across a number of industries."

Motorola is one of more than 100 companies that have selected AmberPoint software for SOA runtime governance (see related news, "AmberPoint Signs New Customers across Industries and Geographies to Extend Market Leadership").
