AmberPoint Wins 2002 HotTech “Rising Star” Award

San Francisco Business Times Recognizes Most Promising Technology Companies

Oakland, California, November 7, 2002 -- Web services management software pioneer, AmberPointTM, Inc., today announced it has been named a Rising Star in the San Francisco Business Times 2002 HotTech Awards. AmberPoint was among 24 outstanding Bay Area companies to receive an award, including Hewlett-Packard, PeopleSoft, Plumtree Software, Google and Salesforce.com. Winners were selected by the publication’s editors and an independent panel of judges.

“HotTech Award winners represent the companies we believe are most likely to succeed in the current market," said Mary Huss, publisher for the San Francisco Business Times. "We selected AmberPoint for the Rising Star Award because it has all the right ingredients – a solid business plan, experienced management team, innovative technology and a growing customer base.”

There were over 100 nominations in 19 categories for San Francisco Business Times’ third annual HotTech Awards. Winners were chosen for their demonstrated ability to identify market requirements, develop leading technologies, secure financing, increase revenues and capture mindshare.

“This has been a productive year for AmberPoint, marked by the launch of our Web services management solution and its adoption by large enterprise customers looking to manage and secure their Web services,” said John Hubinger, CEO for AmberPoint. “This recognition further validates that our business model is solid and that we’re making the right moves to build a successful company.”

AmberPoint continues to garner industry recognition. The San Francisco Business Times award comes on the heels of the Red Herring ‘Top Innovator’ award received by AmberPoint CTO Paul Butterworth for his breakthrough contributions to information technology.
