The integration of IONA’s Artix and AmberPoint’s SOA Management System enables customers to easily pass data collected by the sophisticated instrumentation in Artix endpoints to the AmberPoint management console. Customers then have the ability to use AmberPoint to monitor the health and status of their Artix endpoints and the services running in those endpoints. Further, the integration of Artix and AmberPoint gives enterprises comprehensive, policy-based control over areas such as service level management, exception management, security, logging and auditing in a distributed, Artix-based SOA environment. IONA and AmberPoint plan to leverage Artix’s unique architecture and AmberPoint’s customizable agent technology to build a plug-in enabling out-of-the-box integration of Artix and AmberPoint.
“Leading organizations, especially those in the telecommunications, financial services and government sectors, are rapidly embracing SOA. Customers want to generate greater ROI from existing assets and reduce the overall cost of their IT systems while at the same time streamlining their computing environments to make them more agile and responsive to business change,” explained Larry Alston, vice president, Marketing and Product Management, IONA. “AmberPoint, as the industry leader in SOA management, is the natural choice to add these capabilities to Artix. Both companies advocate a distributed computing approach that not only supports incremental adoption, but also eliminates the need for a monolithic, server-centric architecture and the scalability and performance issues that can result from such computing paradigms.”
“AmberPoint and IONA are helping organizations to reduce the time to ROI for SOA,” said Ed Horst, AmberPoint’s vice president of Marketing. “By shortening the path to integrating and managing distributed, heterogeneous application components, we’re enabling our shared customers to more quickly reap the benefits of SOA. The integration of our solutions can save customers significant time and effort.”
The partnership between IONA and AmberPoint benefits from a shared philosophy about the best method for successfully deploying SOA in the enterprise. Both Artix and AmberPoint are non-invasive technologies that require no additional coding to service-enable existing systems with Artix or manage them via the AmberPoint Console. Together, IONA and AmberPoint can provide their customers a highly dynamic and adaptive SOA infrastructure that is well suited to meeting their evolving business requirements.
