About AmberPoint
Recent additions to AmberPoint’s impressive roster of customers include premier lender Aegis Mortgage Corporation; advanced technology systems provider Lockheed Martin; Japanese telecommunications leader NTT Communications; Orange, one of the world’s largest mobile communications companies; PFPC, a member of the PNC Financial Services Group; the National Bank of Kuwait; Swiss media and advertising company PubliGroupe; and La Societe Francaise du Radiotelephone (SFR), the second largest mobile telecommunications company in France. AmberPoint also completed deals with large government agencies in the U.S. and abroad, including in Taiwan, Japan, and two Korean government agencies—the National Computerization Agency (NCA) and the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs. Additionally, AmberPoint completed notable follow-on business with existing customers including financial services leader Citigroup. AmberPoint also signed a number of other new customers across a variety of industries.
“A common mistake with SOA and Web services is waiting too long to implement management,” said Thomas Pilitz, enterprise architect in the Component Technology and Architecture Group at PFPC. “At PFPC we recognize that it's critical to factor in runtime governance requirements at the outset of a SOA initiative. We found that AmberPoint shares our philosophy on SOA best practices, an approach that's reflected in the architecture and capabilities of their software.”
Customer Traction in 2005
AmberPoint achieved significant market traction throughout calendar year 2005 across a number of industries, including financial services, telecommunications, government, manufacturing, healthcare, retail and energy. In addition to the customers listed above, AmberPoint completed new agreements and follow-on business with, among others, global lender Bank Leumi of Israel; strategic consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton; British Telecommunications Plc.; insurance leader CNA; British business process outsourcing company Capita; the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) of the U.S. Department of Defense; healthcare services provider MedicAlert; Florida’s Miami-Dade County; television research firm Nielsen Media Research; Korean government agency Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI); prestigious technology university ESME in France and several federal government agencies in the U.S. and abroad. AmberPoint now has more than 90 customers of its enterprise-class SOA runtime governance software.
"We’ve seen a great deal of change to the market landscape in the last year,” said John Hubinger, AmberPoint CEO. “And we’re very pleased that leading organizations continue to recognize the unique value of our company and our products. We’re adding to our customer roster at a growing rate and consistently gaining follow-on business from existing customers who opt to license more of our runtime governance software. As a result, we’ve enjoyed yet another year of record growth, in terms of revenues, product innovation and ongoing market leadership.”
Product Leadership
AmberPoint again led the market in product innovation in 2005, with two significant upgrades to its industry-leading SOA management system and the introduction of the industry's first SOA Validation System. In March, AmberPoint increased insight into SOA applications with introduction of the fourth generation of the AmberPoint suite. In September, the company introduced the SOA Validation System, which allows enterprises to validate service changes in pre-production environments, significantly reducing the risk of introducing new Web services and policies into production systems. Most recently announced, AmberPoint SOA Management System 5.0 now includes end-to-end policy-based management, additional security features and enhanced performance to make it the most comprehensive SOA runtime governance solution on the market. Additionally, AmberPoint localized its complimentary developer's edition software, AmberPoint Express, which is now available in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
Partnerships and Global Distribution
AmberPoint strengthened its strategic partnerships in 2005 with leading SOA platform vendors, technology providers, systems integrators and resellers. The company announced an enhanced relationship with Microsoft, an extended partnership in IBM's SOA Partner Program, support for BEA AquaLogic and certification for SAP NetWeaver. Aiding its traction with U.S. government agencies, AmberPoint is the first company to submit SOA management software for Common Criteria Certification with the National Information Assurance Partnership.
AmberPoint also increased its global reach by completing distribution agreements with leading systems integrators, distributors and resellers worldwide. AmberPoint solutions are now available on every continent except Antarctica. AmberPoint Express is now shipping with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 to more than 300,000 developers worldwide.
