What:
Developers have moved beyond proof-of-concept to create new applications that tie together content from several places into a central portal. These applications promise to make an increasingly mobile, information-starved workforce more productive with less IT headaches. Whether it's mashing together Google Maps with home listings from Craig's List, or brokering links between employees and suppliers according to enterprise guidelines, these applications are dramatically different from the old client-server model.
The first panel Ed will participate on is entitled, "Service-Oriented Architectures and Your Network." This panel will provide the audience with a guide on how to take advantage of these new loosely-coupled applications and turn their network into a platform for service-oriented apps.
The second panel, entitled, "Securing and Managing a Web services Environment" is part of a day-long series of panels discussing SOA and Web Services called "SOA and Web Services: The Impact on the Infrastructure and the Infrastructure Organization." The panel will take a holistic look at both SOAs and Web services, including an analysis of the drivers and inhibitors, as well as an identification of which technologies are ready for production and which are not. It will also identify the impact on the infrastructure and the infrastructure organization that results from deploying an SOA and Web services.
In both panels, Ed Horst will discuss the management and security challenges of deploying an SOA, how to ensure quality of service, and the current state of enabling standards.
