AmberPoint Brings Rich Web Services Management Capabilities to InSync Information Systems

Enterprise Connectivity and Collaboration Software Provider Selects AmberPoint Management Foundation for Monitoring and Management Capabilities

Oakland, California, September 4, 2002 -- AmberPoint™, Inc., today announced that it is providing comprehensive Web services management functionality to business connectivity, collaboration and interoperability software provider InSync Information Systems. AmberPoint Management Foundation supports InSync’s solutions by providing monitoring, management and logging capabilities for both system-level and business-level operations. By leveraging the content and context of messages flowing through a Web services system, AmberPoint provides insight into the entire Web services environment, from internal messages to transactions with supply chain partners outside the firewall.

InSync’s Business Process Conductor (iBPC) solution allows businesses to adapt their enterprise applications to standards such as RosettaNet so they can more efficiently process transactions with and provide visibility into large manufacturing suppliers and buyers. Providing a much more cost-effective solution for interoperating with RosettaNet-based systems, iBPC uses the underlying SOAP messaging to tie enterprise applications to a RosettaNet engine. To make this solution truly business- and production-ready, InSync required a means of monitoring and managing its software environment to ensure system performance and to deliver functionality based on the content of the SOAP messages sent through the system.

“We evaluated several Web services management solutions,” said Ravi Panja, chief technology officer at InSync Information Systems, Inc. "AmberPoint Management Foundation had the most rational approach and the most comprehensive capabilities for monitoring, managing and securing enterprise-class Web service environments. AmberPoint‘s management layer not only gives us visibility into things such as performance and business status, but also takes action when necessary, either notifying someone in real business time or fixing potential problems immediately.”

Comprehensive Management Capabilities
AmberPoint provides InSync with rich capabilities for business and system alerts, logging and routing. It has the ability to inspect XML and SOAP messages and to deliver alerts to appropriate personnel. For example, AmberPoint Management Foundation can alert business managers when new orders are added to the queue or when changes are made to the RosettaNet system, such as a change to an SKU number. AmberPoint enables InSync to both observe and participate in the operational health of the iBPC system as well as the user’s business operations by inspecting and reacting to the content of the messages themselves.

The AmberPoint Customer Experience group worked closely with InSync developers to ensure that they could quickly exploit the complete functionality of AmberPoint Management Foundation. As a result, InSync was able to install AmberPoint into its existing environment quickly and non-invasively—without requiring any additional coding.

“The real power of AmberPoint Management Foundation is the ability to leverage the content and context of XML Web services,” said John Hubinger, AmberPoint CEO. “InSync is a great example of how an organization can use AmberPoint software to improve operational efficiencies, make better-informed business decisions and ensure the performance of their Web services-based systems.”

The Benefits of AmberPoint
InSync Information Systems gains the following Web services management capabilities from AmberPoint Management Foundation:

  • Content-based Routing: AmberPoint routes emails to appropriate parties based on the content of the SOAP messages themselves. For example, business managers might be alerted when orders of a certain size are placed.

  • Security: InSync can use AmberPoint to quickly implement heightened security measures based on the content (e.g. order size) and the context (e.g., user identity) of the transactions.

  • System Monitoring: AmberPoint oversees the overall health of the Web services environment to ensure performance and availability.

  • Business Insight: AmberPoint inspects the XML and SOAP messages, and delivers alerts to business managers when significant events occur.

  • Logging: AmberPoint logs pertinent information to persistent data stores.
